When it comes to finding an amazing water park design consultant, you can count on Insite EMLA to deliver a one-of-a-kind attraction the whole family is sure to love.
In this blog, we showcase our water park creation at the Big 4 Billabong holiday park at Tweed Heads, touted as one of the country’s premier water playgrounds.
This part of the holiday park was completed a few years ago and has been keeping kids and their parents entertained ever since.
‘Green Cauldron’ Water Park Design
This water park at the Big 4 Billabong was not only designed to provide plenty of fun, but it also tells a story of Australia’s ‘Green Cauldron’ – an ancient volcanic landscape in the Tweed Valley which spans part of south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales.
This nod to the local natural environment not only incorporates an educational element, but also helped park owners secure tourism funding for the build.
The Big 4 Billabong water park features:
Impressive water slides:
At the heart of the park, a number of large blue water slides protrude from a rock-like feature. Mount Warning, in the Tweed Range, is the inspiration for the impressive attraction.
Tipping bucket and slide:
The incredible rock structure at Fingal Head – another local landmark – was also incorporated into the water park design. This basalt rock formation was created more than 20 million years ago, when lava from the (now extinct) Mount Warning volcano hit the water.
A tipping bucket – designed to depict the Fingal Head lighthouse – and slide are situated on the small rock-like structure.
Toddler play area with frog slide:
The inspiration for the final area is the marine life which lives just offshore from Fingal Head and can be seen around Cook Island.
Tweed Heads Holiday Park Master Plan
It has always been our vision at Insite EMLA to create little stories within the landscape at this site, connecting visitors to the surrounding region and coastal area.
A dry play ground is part of the next stage planned for this holiday park design, and in continuing with that theme, we have incorporated manta ray shaped shade sails.
As with other holiday parks we’ve been part of, here at Insite EMLA we love creating designs that not only encourage a sense of community, but enable families to connect and mingle with each other.
Holiday Park Design Testimonial
“We own two BIG4 Holiday Parks in northern NSW and have used the services provided by Rob Seymour and Insite EMLA for over 10 years. They have provided us with master planning, waterpark, swimming pool and playground design.
Insite have particular expertise with recreational spaces which is what our industry is all about. They are good value for money, innovative, take the time to understand our market and what we are trying to achieve with each project.
When we develop a project within our parks, our aim is for it to be something that guests will share with friends on socials, to stand out in the market. Rob make this a reality.
Given the small cost of professional design advice relative to the overall project – and the importance of getting it right the first time – we wouldn’t consider proceeding without help from Insite.”
